Yesterday Michelle, Lindsey, Kaylyn, Rachel, and I painted some more. We also got some more herbs and flowers to plant. So we need to finish up these herb baskets quick so we can plant some more. We're already waiting for our Cilantro, Basil, and Impatiens to grow. Emily and I also looked at our pepper plants and we have some growing in every single one of the units in the flats. We put them out in the sun yesterday so that they could grow strong. Can't wait for them to get bigger!!!

Today I watered my plants like I always do. We also had to take bricks and and stack them up in an organized box. I also found a black widow which was very scary but working outside was fun today.

Painting, Pictures, and Black Widows

Today I finished painting my flower pot! It is bright yellow with red flowers. Pictures of that will come soon. :) I also planted impatiens with Kirstie and went around taking pictures of the others working. We also took a picture of a black widow that one of the other groups found. Also, this week our Coleus sprouted! They are still very small but I will try to get a picture up here of them. Our lettuce are also doing really well and are growing rapidly.
Today I painted herb baskets and checked up on my pepper plants. They're really growing. Rachel and I also planted Impatiens and took pictures of everyone working. Those pictures will be coming soon!!

My pot is officially in it's ugly stage! I'm making progress though...slowly but surely!

So more of my early girl tomates are coming up. I was was worried when I saw 6 plants close together because that might be a problem when I transplant them. I watered them twice today because tomatoes loose a lot of water. I am very happy my tomatoes are growing:)

Here's some of what's going on with the herb baskets.
This is our pepper plants yesterday, now they are standing up tall and some more are beginning to show.

Today Emily and I looked at our pepper plants and they are bigger than they were yesterday. I'm so excited that they're finally growing! Today I also painted some more with Kaylyn, Rachel, and Michelle. I also planted some Basil and Cilantro. I can't wait for those to start growing!!

The Tomatoes are Growing!!!

The tomatoes finally grew. At first there was just one and then the next day another one. I kept watering them and I did not put them under the light since their was just one. We came back from over the weekend and I had fout plants that needed to be transplanted. I was so excited. They are coming up slowly but at least they are coming up. I have watered them everyday and the ones I have transplanted. Before and After pictures are coming soon!!!

An outdoor light has been

An outdoor light has been fitted to our potato barrel as a source of extra heat and light to spur faster growth. -Adam J.

Peppers and Composting

Today, Grace and I watered the Peppers which have just sprouted! There are about six Pepper plants that have sprouted, but I am looking forward to seeing more sprout. They are being kept on a shelf above lights, with one light on them, which is keeping them at the proper temperature. We also did some research on composting, which is now our side project, and think the best way to do it will be in a compost tumbler.
Last week we started of doing hardly anything. We were constantly watching our potatoes, looking to see if anything was happening, nothing was at all. So we decided to dig for a hot bed. We decided on the size and depth, about the size of a pallet and started digging. We then lengthened it another pallet length and went deeper. When we finished, we then realized we had to put gravel in it as well as the llama poop, so we dug even deeper. Finally just yesterday(monday) we finished. Not only that but Blake and i connected a wall mount light to an extention cord by means of electrical work. We did not get electricuted and we managed to get it to work. The light is to help the potatoes in our barrel grow, so we are now back on track.

I am almost completely done with transplanting my tomatoes. My plants are starting to develop their real leaves, so it's exciting to watch them mature daily.

Pepper Seed Germination

Kirstie and I are still waiting on our peppers to sprout. I did a little research today to see when Sweet Banana Peppers, California Wonder Peppers, and JalapeƱo Peppers are supposed to sprout. Unfortunately, the website we bought the seeds from didn't have any information on this and I had to look at other sites.
Many said Pepper seeds can take anywhere from one week to three months to sprout, but we do not have a month to wait on them. The websites I looked at also said that during germination time, we are supposed to keep the Pepper seeds at 75-90 degrees Fahrenheit, which we haven't been doing. With a temperature lower than this you can't expect the seeds to sprout quickly. Another interesting fact I learned is that the hotter the Pepper, the longer the seed takes to sprout.
Other than research, I watered our Pepper plants, then our class took an awesome nature hike. : )

Broccoli has sprouted!!! and we

Broccoli has sprouted!!! and we transplanted a few to see what happens. and now we are going to see how it goes!
